Building Strength, Confidence, and Readiness
Going en pointe is an exciting milestone in a dancer’s journey, but it is also one that requires patience, preparation, and a strong technical foundation. This spring, we’re offering a two-part Pre-Pointe pathway designed to support dancers in Grades 3rd and up as they work toward this important next step.
Our Pre-Pointe Prep Class followed by our Pre-Pointe Pop Up Series gives dancers the time, guidance, and focused training they need to safely and confidently prepare for pointe work, while also giving our faculty a clear picture of each dancer’s readiness as we look ahead to Season 12.
Step One: Pre-Pointe Prep (3 Weeks)
The Prep Class is designed to lay the groundwork.
Over the course of three weeks, dancers will focus on:
- Foot and ankle strength
- Core stability and alignment
- Proper use of turnout
- Ballet technique fundamentals that support pointe readiness
This class is especially supportive for younger dancers and those newer to structured ballet training. It provides clarity around what “being ready” truly means and allows dancers to build strength and confidence before advancing into the Pre-Pointe Pop Up.
Step Two: Pre-Pointe Pop Up (5 Weeks)
Following the Prep Class, dancers may enroll in our five-week Pre-Pointe Pop Up. This series dives deeper into:
- Advanced strength and conditioning
- Barre and center work tailored to pre-pointe development
- Continued refinement of technique and control
Throughout this series, our faculty will observe, assess, and support each dancer’s individual progress. This process helps us thoughtfully evaluate where our current dancers are in their pre-pointe journey and who may be ready for pre-pointe or pointe placement in Season 12.
A Thoughtful, Individual Approach
Every dancer develops at their own pace, and readiness for pointe is never determined by age alone. This two-part pathway allows dancers to grow without pressure, while giving families transparency and guidance around what comes next.
Dancers participating in these offerings should currently be training in ballet, whether at Reach or elsewhere. A strong ballet foundation is essential for safe and successful pointe work, and these classes are designed to complement that ongoing training.
Investment & Membership Tiers
As part of our continued commitment to clarity and accessibility, these offerings follow our new tiered investment structure:
- Club Reach Members
For dancers enrolled in two or more classes since the Fall trimester of Season 11
- Studio Members
Current Season 11 enrolled families
- Community Members
Guest dancers who are not currently enrolled in our season program
This structure allows us to reward consistent training while still welcoming dancers from the broader community who are ready to take this step.
Looking Ahead
The Pre-Pointe Prep and Pre-Pointe Pop Up classes are not about rushing to pointe shoes. They are about building strength, fostering confidence, and ensuring each dancer is supported every step of the way.
We’re so excited to guide our dancers through this next chapter and look forward to seeing their growth unfold this spring.
