We’re Always Looking for Exceptional Dance Teachers & Assistants
At Reach For The Barres, we believe dance education should help children become stronger, more confident versions of themselves. We’re looking for exceptional educators who are passionate about developing both dancers and people through movement, mentorship, and meaningful relationships.
Do you love sharing dance with young people?
Can you balance being playful with a four-year-old while also confidently leading a classroom and setting clear expectations? Are you someone who enjoys building meaningful relationships with students and their families while creating a magical, inspiring studio experience?
If so, we would love to hear from you.
WHO WE ARE
Reach For The Barres is Los Angeles’ premier recreational dance studio serving dancers ages 18 months through 18 years. We combine expert, age-appropriate dance training with a joyful, community-centered environment where every child is known, challenged, encouraged, and celebrated as they grow.
Our studio is built on the belief that dance education should develop confident, creative, capable young people. We teach strong technical foundations while creating a supportive environment where every child can grow, belong, and experience the joy of movement.
We are serious about growth and joyful in our approach. Whether a child dances for one season or ten years, our goal is to help them leave stronger than they arrived.
OUR CORE VALUES
Community
We build meaningful relationships and create a place where every child belongs.
Excellence
We pursue high standards while recognizing that growth looks different for every dancer.
Leadership
We model responsibility, integrity, and positive influence.
Growth
We believe there is always another way to learn, improve, and reach higher.
Joy
We never lose sight of why children dance in the first place.
WHO THRIVES ON OUR TEAM
Our instructors are mentors who help young dancers grow not only in technique, but also in confidence and character.
You may be a great fit if you:
• Believe dance education is about developing people, not just performers.
• Love working with children and understand that different ages require different teaching approaches.
• Can balance warmth and encouragement with clear expectations and classroom leadership.
• Are reliable, professional, and committed to doing what you say you’ll do.
• Enjoy collaborating with a team and contributing to a positive studio culture.
• View challenges as opportunities to learn and grow.
Reach may not be the right fit if you:
• Prefer highly competitive studio environments.
• Are primarily interested in choreography rather than teaching.
• Struggle with punctuality, preparation, or follow-through.
• Prefer working independently rather than as part of a collaborative team.
• Are looking for a position focused exclusively on advanced dancers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Reach instructor, you’ll:
• Create engaging, age-appropriate dance classes that inspire learning and confidence.
• Teach and implement our curriculum and developmental progression pathways.
• Prepare dancers for performances and recital experiences.
• Build positive relationships with students and families.
• Contribute to a safe, welcoming, and joyful studio culture.
• Collaborate with fellow faculty members to support student growth.
• Contribute to the broader student experience through evaluations, performances, special events, and studio-wide initiatives.
• Support and participate in our annual recital at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates should demonstrate:
• Experience teaching dance, working with children, or leading youth programs.
• Strong classroom leadership and communication skills.
• The ability to create a structured yet joyful learning environment.
• Professionalism, reliability, and follow-through.
• Reliable transportation to and from the studio.
• Availability to teach consistent weekly classes throughout the dance season.
• A growth mindset and willingness to learn, receive feedback, and continually improve.
CPR or First Aid Certification is preferred. If not currently certified, instructors must be willing to obtain certification.
POSITION DETAILS
• Part-time teaching opportunities.
• Training and curriculum support provided.
• Participation in annual performances and our recital experience at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre.
• Opportunities for continued growth and leadership within the organization.
We believe in developing leaders from within. Team members may have opportunities to grow into roles involving curriculum development, choreography, program leadership, mentoring, special events, summer programming, and studio operations.
