In the New Year, we want to take time to recognize all the wonderful people that make this studio possible. We have an amazing staff with qualifications out of the roof… but they are more than just dancers and educators. So for the next couple of weeks, we will be getting to know the humans behind the teacher, and their little fun facts.

This week we are diving into the little details of Miss Kris!

The sky is blue, the ocean is blue🌊, and the color that caught the eye of Miss Kris is blue! There are many things to like about blue. Some would say it’s a calming color🧘‍♀️. One that soothes the soul when you feel your mind becoming chaotic. Makes sense as to why this teachers loves it so.

Can you really argue when someone tells you a meal involving noodles is their favorite?🍜We can’t. A noodle can be done in so many variations.. What’s not to love? You can have it however your heart desire. And Miss Kris agrees! Hand her some Japanese Noodles, and she will be grinning ear to ear. 😊

You get in your car, and turn on music🚗. We all have a go to song we love to start our day with. Or listen to when we are sad. For Miss Kris you can catch her brightening up her days with the song “Gloria!” By Laura Branigan🎵

There are many artist out there.🎤 With a variety of styles and sounds to bring joy to each persons life by song. But none of them compare to Sammy Rae & The Friends for Miss Kris. If you haven’t had the chance to check out their unique and authentic sound we HIGHLY recommend you take a listen. ✔️

Our childhood👶 is what helps make up the person you grow up to be. We are a combination of our experiences and memories. Many of which we hope to be amazing ones. Miss Kris looks back fondly on making up dances and plays 🎭with her best friends!

Our teachers may be amazing educators and dancers, but they are so much more than that. They live a whole life beyond these studio walls. When Miss Kris isn’t dancing her heart out or acting up a storm she loves being outside. You can catch her backpacking through forests, and stopping to camp in beautiful sights🏕. Another love she’s carried with her is the adrenaline rush she gets anytime she goes snowboarding. But don’t you worry Miss Kris knows how to take a breather and relax with a brain teasing puzzle 🧩 . She is a woman of many interests, and she is a better teacher for it.

Prized possession come in many shapes and forms. For Miss Kris what she holds closest to her heart is her cat. 🐈A feline friend can make the worst days feel better. With a couple snuggles from a furry fella how could anyone be upset for too long. 💕

Our teachers here at Reach For the Barres are fountains of knowledge⛲️. They are people who are full of amazing advice. What Miss Kris would like to pass on to the students here is, “Enjoy every moment; even the tougher ones. They will lead you to the other side of the rainbow🌈 . Always always always; trust yourself & whatever comes your way!”

5 Ways Children Benefit from Dance Classes

Thinking about dance lessons for your child?
Here are 5 benefits to enrolling them in classes:

  1. Dancing promotes physical health– Dancing is an active, fun way to educate your kids about their physical health. In a single class, dancers learn about their bodies, hone gross motor skills, strengthen muscles, increase stamina, decrease stress levels, and experience firsthand the benefits of committing to an active lifestyle.
  2. Dancing supports cognitive development– Studies have shown that introducing dance to children results in healthy brain function and development. With consistency, dance classes have the capacity to improve mental agility, focus, memory, musicality, and spatial reasoning.
  3. Dancing encourages self-expression– Through movement, dancers are free to express themselves and connect to their authenticity. Classes provide a safe space for dancers to release stored emotions, offering a constructive outlet for big feelings. Exploring movement in this way empowers dancers to intuitively connect to their own personal freedom, creativity, and sense of self.
  4. Dancing creates community– One small step onto the dance floor can result in one giant leap in a child’s social-emotional development. By learning how to share space, take turns, treat others with respect, and build trust through cooperation and communication, dancers nurture important social skills in class, which allows social anxieties to soften and friendships to flourish.
  5. Dancing instills important life skills– The lessons of dance are neither limited to a classroom environment nor simplified to synchronized steps. On the contrary, lessons learned in dance class directly equip children with essential life tools, such as perseverance, determination, cooperation, humility, trust, and belief in oneself.
All in all, dance is a fun and creative way for kids to learn a new skill, while enhancing the well-being of their minds, bodies, and hearts. Jumpstart your child’s growth by enrolling in dance classes today!
